We Give Hope - Tommy's Riding High

Many of our boys come to The Genesis Project without basic life skills. We see obvious neglect when children do not have the basic skills they need to function at a level typical for their ages. Unfortunately, some boys arrive without even being potty trained.

Tommy came to Genesis after experiencing abuse and neglect. He was angry, developmentally delayed, had hygiene issues, and missed his family a lot. Smart and always helpful, Tommy learned leadership abilities and emotional support through participation in life skills groups. We saw good things happen when he discovered good things about himself. He is an amazing cook, loves mythology, and knows good manners.

The Genesis project teaches basic skills through our module system. The boys learn proper hygiene, table manners, how to make their beds, and many other skills to equip them for their futures.

Unfortunately, like many of our boys, the rights of Tommy's parents were terminated but thanks to the Genesis team which helped give him hope, in part by teaching life skills, Tommy was able to reunite with his brothers and sister in a foster care home.

Each boy who completes our life skills modules gets a brand new bike that they can keep forever. Tommy is now riding high on his new bike.
