FAQs

Who We Are

  • What is trauma-informed care?

As a Level E therapeutic treatment facility, The Genesis Project cares for boys who have experienced acute trauma (single traumatic event), chronic trauma (multiple traumatic events) and complex trauma (trauma caused by adults entrusted with the child’s care). Because we understand trauma’s effect on a child, we find unique ways to address its impact and help him deal with associated issues. We use proven trauma-informed treatments, therapies, and support to set up each boy for success when he returns to the community.

Components of a Trauma Informed System include:

    • Trauma Awareness
    • Emphasis on Safety
    • Opportunities to Rebuild Control
    • Strength-based Approach

  • Are the boys in your care up for adoption?

Yes. Ideally, the goal is to reunify a child with his family but in cases where parental rights have been terminated, adoption may be an option. For more information regarding adoption in Oklahoma, please visit the OKDHS website or call 918-794-7575.
